OpenAI partners with Broadcom to build custom chips
A move to reduce Nvidia dependence — key for cost, scale, and long-term control.
OpenAI will have their own chips for the first time next year, co-designed with Broadcom. The chip is for internal use only. Broadcom announced earlier today that they had secured $10 billion in orders for custom chips from a new mystery client. Looks like the mystery is solved.
