Grok & Telegram Tie up? Not yet.
This is what was initially reported: Elon Musk’s xAI and Pavel Durov’s Telegram have inked a 1-year deal to integrate Grok AI. Telegram will score $300M in cash and equity from xAI + 50% of revenue from xAI subscriptions sold via the messaging app. BUT it is not confirmed.
After all the euphoria died down. We got a few bits of clarification.
Elon Musk later said no deal was signed, and Durov clarified it was agreed in principle but not finalized.

Elon Musk says “not yet”
As of May 31, 2025, the deal's status remains uncertain, with no confirmation of a signed agreement.
So what?
Access to Telegram's subscribers and chat traffic would give Grok tons of training data and subscribers in one shot.
But Telegram was supposed to be a very private messenger- so are the data sharing strictures going to be relaxed for this deal?
UAE Rumored to Offer Free ChatGPT Plus to All Residents—But Is It True?
Reports initially suggested that the UAE is the first country to provide free ChatGPT Plus subscriptions to all residents under the Stargate UAE project with OpenAI.
However, credible sources indicate these claims are unconfirmed, with the focus being on AI infrastructure and public sector integration.

So what exactly is happening?
What is happening is that US companies are building Stargate’s UAE AI Campus. OpenAI is a key partner in developing Stargate UAE, a massive AI data center campus in Abu Dhabi, described as one of the largest AI infrastructure projects outside the U.S.
Key details:
Scale and Timeline: The project includes a 1-gigawatt AI computing cluster, with an initial 200-megawatt cluster expected to go live in 2026. The broader UAE–US AI campus will have a 5-gigawatt capacity, spanning 10 square miles, equivalent to powering a U.S. state like Minnesota! Read that again.
Technology: The facility will use Nvidia’s advanced GB300 systems (based on Blackwell Ultra B300 chips), offering high-performance computing for AI workloads, with Cisco providing zero-trust security and connectivity infrastructure.
Partners: OpenAI collaborates with G42 (an Emirati AI firm), Oracle, Nvidia, Cisco, and SoftBank. G42 will build and operate the campus, with OpenAI and Oracle managing the 1-gigawatt cluster. Can you see the plethora of US companies that are winning in this deal?
So What?
This is part of OpenAI’s “OpenAI for Countries” program, launched in May 2025, to help nations build sovereign AI infrastructure. The UAE is the first country in this initiative, with OpenAI aiming to expand to 10 countries.
The UAE’s investment aligns with U.S. efforts to counter Chinese influence in AI, with G42 divesting from Chinese companies (e.g., a $100 million stake in ByteDance) to secure access to U.S. technology like Nvidia chips.
The UAE aims to diversify its economy beyond oil, projecting AI to contribute in a big way to its economy by 2031. The Stargate UAE campus therefore positions the UAE as a regional AI hub.

Mistral’s New Agents API: A Shortcut to Smarter AI Apps
It’s always been a bit of a headache to stitch together all the components needed to run a useful AI agent. That’s exactly the friction Mistral wants to remove with their new Agents API. This is relevant to builders in the AI space.
Instead of reinventing the wheel each time, Mistral’s offering gives you everything in one package: a smart orchestration system, access to their top models, and tools that can call functions, use search, or connect to your own data.
Let’s break it down.

Agents API
What is the Agents API?
The Mistral Agents API is built to make it easier to deploy multi-step, real-time AI use cases. Think of it as an out-of-the-box agent framework that does the hard stuff for you.
You just define what your agent should do, what tools it can access and what kind of behavior it should have. Mistral takes care of the rest.
🛠️ Built-in orchestration
No glue code needed. The system automatically routes requests, chains calls, and manages tool usage.
🔍 Tool use and retrieval built-in
Agents can fetch knowledge from a custom search endpoint or retrieve data from your own system.
Why It Matters
If you’ve ever tried building a chat assistant or a decision-support tool, you know it’s not just about the model. You also need logic, memory, search, and integration. Mistral wraps all that into one API.
📦 One call does it all
Whether it’s calling a function, answering with retrieved data, or managing context over time, the agent does it in a single pass.
🧠 Powered by Mistral models
You get the benefit of Mistral’s latest open-weight models like Mixtral and Mistral-small with optimized performance.
🧩 Easily composable
You can plug in your own tools or use theirs. Want to connect to a product database or a weather API? Just declare it and go.
💬 Great for chat interfaces
The agent keeps context over time, making it a fit for apps that need a memory of past queries.
How to Get Started
You can try out a sample agent in their playground today. Full API access is already available through Mistral’s platform and via partners like Fireworks and LlamaIndex.
For startups, that could mean faster prototypes, leaner engineering, and a shorter road from demo to deployment.
